Church Social Media Graphics: A Simple Weekly Plan

· LanternLetter Co.

Social media is often the first place a visitor sees your church. You do not need many posts; a steady, recognizable rhythm works better than occasional bursts.

A weekly rhythm

  • Early week: a recap or a verse from Sunday's sermon
  • Midweek: an upcoming event or ministry spotlight
  • Friday or Saturday: "Join us Sunday" with service times and address
  • Seasonal: countdowns and schedules for Advent, Christmas Eve, Lent and Holy Week

Sizes and formats

Square and vertical (portrait) images work across most platforms, and vertical formats suit stories. Platforms change their recommended dimensions from time to time, so check each platform's current help pages before creating a new template.

Design and accessibility tips

  • Keep text on the image short; put details in the caption.
  • Use high contrast between text and background.
  • Add alt text when the platform allows it.
  • Always include the date, time and place for events.
  • Use the same colors and fonts as your bulletin so print and online match.

Connect graphics to your print materials

When the Advent bulletin cover, the December newsletter and the Instagram post share one design, people recognize the series. See our Advent guide, Lent guide, newsletter guide and bulletin ideas. Our Advent social pack is in the shop. Promoting a candlelight service? See our Christmas Eve program guide.
